Safe Environment Program

Supports parishes, schools and agencies of the Archdiocese of Seattle with all Safe Environment efforts

Assists the Archbishop in coordinating child abuse prevention efforts throughout the archdiocese. Supports parishes, schools and agencies of the Archdiocese of Seattle with all Safe Environment efforts, including background checks, Safe Environment training and development and implementation of related policies.

The certification requirements include an initial 3-hour seminar followed by annual online courses.  You may begin volunteering prior to taking the class – you must take the class within 90 days of when you start volunteering.

All volunteers at St. Matthew School are required to take the training provided by the Archdiocese.

Each family must volunteer 40 hours throughout the year with 8 hours dedicated to the fundraising efforts of the Annual School Auction, $CRIP or the Annual School Fund Drive. (Modified for the 2020-2021 school year to 20 hours).

Parents must track and submit their own hours using the Volunteer tracking form.

Volunteer Requirements

Background checks and Archdiocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training must be completed by any adults working directly with students. Volunteer Background check forms are available in the school office.
