Library Overview
The mission of the SMS Library is to provide a welcoming environment that encourages and empowers students, teachers and our community of parents to find the joy in reading
to use and produce information effectively, to collaborate – within the classroom, school, and globally, and to wonder, learn, dream, experiment, tinker, and share.

General Information
- Books are checked out for one week and are due at the following library period. Books may be renewed, unless another student has placed a hold on that book.
- Students in grades 1-8 may check out up to 2 books for one week.
- Kindergarten students begin checking books out after the first of the new year.
- There are NO overdue fines. But if a book is overdue more than two weeks, students will lose check out privilege until that book is returned or paid for (lost books). Lost books must be paid for not replaced.
Technology
We believe that technology should be used for meaningful, engaged learning for all students. It should support curricular goals and be aligned with St. Matthew School Learning Expectations, Archdiocesan standards, and state and national technology standards. We want to promote technology used for authentic tasks in an articulated, hands-on program that will enable students to gain the needed knowledge and experience working with a variety of technological devices and processes. This will prepare students to be critical users of information and will give them tools to be lifelong learners.
We believe that technology has applications beyond the classroom. Administration and teachers should have technology for administrative and assessment tasks. These administrative tools allow for more efficiency.
The importance of communication between the school and home is vital to the success of a school. Technology offers tools to make this process efficient and immediate.
